Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity progressive care and oncology nursing to telemetry patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias while managing telemetry-based care
• Safely access and manage central and peripheral lines, PICCs and ports
• Administer and monitor blood products and follow heparin and medication protocols
• Manage respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC and tracheostomy care
• Care for patients with chest tubes and perform feeding tube management
• Respond to rapid response and code team activations and follow isolation/infection-prevention protocols
• Document accurately in Epic and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed and support unit staffing priorities

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Ohio or compact state licensure as applicable)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/BLS), ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
• High-acuity PCU or telemetry nursing experience required; oncology experience preferred but not required
• Must meet specialty experience requirements within the last 3 years, with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• Comfortable using Epic electronic charting
• Ability to float to similar acuity units and adapt to changing staffing needs
• Previous travel or agency experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and chemotherapy monitoring/administration (preferred)
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and telemetry experience
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias and cardiac monitoring
• IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, PICC/port access and central/peripheral line care
• Blood product administration and heparin protocol familiarity
• Management of PCA pumps, arterial lines and chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
• Respiratory support skills: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care and ABG interpretation
• Feeding tube care, wound care/Wound Vac and surgical drain care
• Infection prevention practices and isolation precautions
