Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced, compassionate neonatal care to critically ill newborns in the NICU
• Assess and continuously monitor neonatal patients, interpreting vital signs and trends
• Administer medications, IV therapy and specialized treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists and the multidisciplinary team
• Respond rapidly to clinical changes and participate in emergency interventions when needed
• Educate and support families, explaining care plans and involving them in decision-making
• Maintain meticulous documentation in the medical record to ensure continuity of care
• Contribute to unit-based initiatives that improve patient outcomes and safety

Qualifications

• Current RN license (ability to obtain North Carolina license if not already held)
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience (as stated in the job posting)
• Current BLS certification; neonatal certifications such as NRP highly recommended
• Comfortable with critical care equipment and advanced neonatal monitoring
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work in high-acuity teams

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neonatal assessment and critical thinking skills
• Experience with ventilator management and neonatal respiratory support
• Proficiency with IV/medication administration and neonatal dosing
• Skilled in family-centered care and clear caregiver education
• Familiarity with EMR documentation and clinical charting best practices
• Ability to triage, prioritize and act decisively in urgent situations
