Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient-centered nursing care on a medical unit, delivering safe and effective treatments
• Assess, monitor and document patient status using Meditech EMR and unit-specific tools
• Administer medications and manage Pyxis workflows accurately and timely
• Perform specialized procedures and manage equipment such as wound VACs and chest tubes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Respond to changing patient needs on night shift with clinical judgment and calm leadership
• Float to other units (Laulima, Cardiovascular) as needed to support patient care and unit staffing
• Participate in orientation and ongoing unit training to maintain competence and quality

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — must obtain an active State of Hawaii nursing license by assignment start
• BLS and ACLS required
• 2-10 years of nursing experience (medical unit experience preferred)
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound VACs and chest tube care preferred
• Proof of influenza vaccination or an approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start
• Ability to work night shift and be flexible with shift lengths and days; willingness to float to other units

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR for documentation and orders
• Medication administration workflows and Pyxis experience
• Wound care knowledge and wound VAC management
• Chest tube care and post-procedure monitoring
• Ability to prioritize in a busy medical unit and handle variable staffing ratios
• Professional communication and teamwork across disciplines
