Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver safe, individualized nursing care for long-term care residents
• Perform thorough nursing assessments and document findings in the EHR
• Administer medications and therapeutics accurately and monitor resident responses
• Lead the unit during your shift with delegation and supervision of CNAs and LPNs
• Develop, implement, and revise resident care plans in collaboration with the care team
• Provide patient and family education to support understanding and recovery
• Respond calmly and effectively in emergencies and escalate to supervisors when needed
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and unit goal-setting to improve care quality

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Clinical competency and High Risk competency (timeframes required per employer policy)
• Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience preferred, ideally with long-term care exposure
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform physical aspects of nursing care
• Strong communication, leadership, and delegation skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing: BSN, ADN, or Diploma in Nursing
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
• Experience with medication administration and infection control practices
• Proficiency in EHR documentation and charting
• Familiarity with pharmaceuticals, side effects, and emergency recognition
• Skill in operating basic and specialized equipment such as AED
• Ability to provide compassionate resident-centered education and counseling
