Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Rotating 12.5-hour shifts (specific start/end times vary by unit); RN - L&D

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients
Continuously monitor maternal and fetal status and promptly escalate concerns
Assist with labor progress, pain management and delivery support as needed
Collaborate closely with OB providers, anesthesia, pediatrics and support staff
Educate patients and families on labor, delivery and postpartum care
Accurately document assessments, interventions and patient progress in the chart
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred
Previous labor & delivery nursing experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team-oriented settings
Strong critical thinking, assessment and communication skills

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
Labor support techniques and pain management options
Postpartum and newborn assessments
Ability to respond quickly in emergent situations
Clear, compassionate patient education and family communication
Accurate clinical documentation and electronic charting skills
