Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care for postoperative open-heart and critically ill cardiac patients
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical circulatory support devices including ECMO, RVAD/LVAD, Impella and IABP
• Care for patients requiring renal support including CRRT and Tablo therapies
• Perform thorough assessments, titrate vasoactive medications, and respond to dynamic hemodynamic changes
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech to ensure continuity and quality
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and support newer staff through mentorship and clear communication
• Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios (1:1 and 1:2 depending on acuity) and advocate for patient safety

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) — active licensure required
• Minimum 1 year of experience; previous cardiac or CVICU experience is required
• Comfort with high-acuity cardiac care and ability to problem-solve independently on a busy unit
• Device competencies preferred: ECMO (VA & VV), RVAD/LVAD, Impella, IABP, CRRT/Dialysis
• Open heart recovery experience is a strong plus
• Experience with Meditech or similar EMR is helpful
• Willingness to work a rotating schedule including weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth cardiac nursing knowledge and post-op open-heart care
• Hands-on experience with ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, Impella and IABP management
• Familiarity with CRRT/Dialysis and Tablo systems
• Strong clinical assessment, hemodynamic monitoring and medication titration skills
• Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments and prioritize effectively
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and the ability to provide/receive constructive feedback
