Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic mammography exams (screening, diagnostic, stereotactic breast biopsy, specimen radiography, needle localization) with attention to image quality and patient comfort
• Operate CT equipment, assist with interventional procedures and manage contrast administration and automatic injector setup
• Provide radiographic/sonographic exams across age groups, applying radiation protection principles and tailoring protocols for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
• Maintain patient records, departmental documentation and quality assurance/quality control activities
• Collaborate with referring physicians and the care team to ensure accurate, timely imaging and appropriate follow-up
• Support departmental operations including supply inventory, equipment care, and rotating shifts as needed
• Pursue and document required continuing education and mammography/clinical competencies to meet ACR/FDA and SEARHC requirements
• Be available for on-call duties and respond to call expectations promptly

Qualifications

• Current ARRT certification in Radiography required
• BLS (American Heart Association) required within 45 days of start
• Clinical competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• Ability to perform and document 100 mammograms per year and maintain required mammography CEUs (per ACR/FDA)
• Technical competency in mammography and CT; comfort assisting with interventional procedures
• Willingness to rotate shifts, work outside primary modality when needed, and respond to on-call coverage
• Comfort working across cultural backgrounds and in a community-focused, nonprofit health system

Education

• ARRT (Radiography) required; ARDMS or additional modality certifications encouraged
• Clinical competency assessment (SEARHC) required within 3 months

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient-centered care and strong customer service
• Radiation protection and diagnostic imaging best practices
• Mammography techniques: screening, diagnostic, stereotactic biopsy, specimen radiography, needle localization
• CT operation, contrast administration and automatic injector experience
• Quality assurance and record maintenance
• Ultrasound and MRI fundamentals; ARDMS or additional modality certifications are a plus
• Sterile technique, venipuncture, teleradiology transmission and interventional assistance
• Ability to adapt protocols for different age groups and special populations
