Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations with professionalism and thoroughness
• Conduct separation health assessments and interview-based medical exams
• Carry out focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Produce clear, timely medical reports and documentation following each exam
• Complete required administrative follow-up such as addendums and medical opinions
• Coordinate with VES onboarding and credentialing teams to maintain compliance
• Respect the non-treatment nature of these exams — assess, document, and report objectively

Qualifications

• Licensed physician (MD or DO) in good standing — state licensure required for the state where you see patients
• Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine preferred
• Experience or comfort performing Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and non-treatment assessments is highly valued
• Ability to perform interview-based exams and basic physical testing (ROM, muscle strength)
• Must be able to complete required VES training and credentialing prior to patient presentations
• If using provider-owned office option: office must be within 50 miles of the listed city; if per-diem at VES facility: home address must be within 50 miles of the facility

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in clinical examinations and non-treatment medical assessments
• Proficient with physical assessment techniques such as range of motion and strength testing
• Strong clinical documentation and medical report writing abilities
• Comfortable with interview-based evaluations and structured assessment protocols
• Attention to detail, objective clinical reasoning, and timely administrative follow-through
