Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess patient functional mobility and rehabilitation needs with evidence-based clinical reasoning
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to restore mobility, reduce pain, and improve function
• Deliver hands-on manual therapy and therapeutic exercise interventions with clear goals and measurable outcomes
• Document clinical progress accurately and timely in the patient record and communicate updates to the care team
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and facility staff to coordinate safe, effective patient care in the correctional setting
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, fall prevention, and safe mobility strategies
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and follow facility security and compliance protocols

Qualifications

• Active Physical Therapist license in California (required)
• Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program (DPT preferred)
• BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Comfort working within a correctional facility and able to pass required background checks/clearances
• Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills; prior experience in inpatient, outpatient, or correctional settings preferred
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a patient-centered approach

Education

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred
• Master's or Bachelor's in Physical Therapy or related field accepted with appropriate licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise prescription, manual therapy, gait training, and mobility aids
• Solid clinical reasoning and outcome-driven treatment planning
• Proficient in concise, accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and follow facility safety protocols
• Adaptability and calm under pressure in a secure environment
