Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and separation health assessments with care and professionalism.
• Conduct thorough interview-based evaluations to capture veterans' histories and functional limitations.
• Perform focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing.
• Complete clear, timely medical documentation and finish required reports for each exam.
• Prepare addendums and medical opinions as needed and read diagnostic information relevant to evaluations.
• Adhere to VES policies and quick onboarding processes to maintain quality and timeliness of deliverables.
• Coordinate visits when working from your own office and ensure compliance with the 50-mile radius requirement when applicable.

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in good standing (state licensure required).
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine preferred.
• Experience or familiarity with Compensation & Pension exams or similar medicolegal/independent evaluations is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform range of motion and muscle strength testing and complete concise medical reports.
• Willingness to work PRN and to accept half-day or full-day clinic assignments.
• If using own office: must have an office location within 50-mile radius of the listed city for that assignment.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to complete required administrative follow-up (addendums, opinions, reading diagnostics).

Education

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing as an NP (or equivalent advanced practice qualification).

Knowledge & Skills

• Interview-based clinical assessment and history-taking focused on functional impact.
• Range of motion testing and standardized muscle strength assessment techniques.
• Clear medical report writing and completion of non-treatment exam documentation.
• Ability to synthesize diagnostic information and produce medical opinions/addendums.
• Comfort working independently in clinic settings or per diem facility environments.
• Familiarity with VA-style C&P processes is a plus.
