Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Plant Operations, Environmental Services, and Grounds to keep the hospital safe, compliant, and running smoothly
- Directly and indirectly supervise approximately 45 FTEs across multiple divisions and build strong, service-oriented teams
- Develop job-specific customer service expectations and training plans, and follow up on employee and customer concerns professionally and promptly
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and inspect equipment to ensure systems operate to manufacturer standards
- Manage contractors and ensure all outside work complies with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and local building and fire codes to protect patients, staff, and visitors
- Act as a collaborative liaison with other departments to assess needs and implement action plans that support patient care
- Direct maintenance of utility systems (heat, steam, power, gas, oxygen) to maintain continuous facility operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of personnel management experience leading multi-discipline facilities teams
- Thorough practical knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclaving, bio-waste handling, life safety codes, construction phasing and environmental services operations
- Proven ability to apply engineering principles to diagnose, detect and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
- Willingness to relocate to a rural area
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Facility operations and plant operations management
- Preventative maintenance planning and equipment inspection
- Regulatory compliance (NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and local codes)
- Contractor management and vendor oversight
- Team leadership, personnel management and training development
- Practical systems knowledge: electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boilers and HVAC
- Experience with autoclaving, bio-waste management and environmental services
