Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to residents following each client’s individualized Plan of Care
• Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature) accurately and timely
• Use and maintain basic medical equipment such as BP cuff, thermometer and stethoscope
• Follow infection control procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment appropriately
• Keep clear, concise basic records of care and communicate observations to the RN Case Manager
• Assist clients with activities of daily living with dignity and compassion
• Present information clearly to residents, families and staff in one-on-one or small group settings

Qualifications

• Active Alaska Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license (required)
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (required; must be maintained during assignment)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in long-term care preferred, but we will train the right candidate
• Ability to read, write and follow written instructions and basic documentation
• Comfortable performing basic math (ratios, percent, measurements) as needed for duties

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfort with basic recordkeeping and documenting client care activities
• Strong communication skills for interacting with residents, families and care teams
• Familiarity with vital sign measurement and routine use of related equipment
• Understanding of infection control practices and correct PPE usage
• Ability to apply common-sense problem solving in standardized situations
• Respect for cultural differences and ability to work in a tight-knit community environment
