Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, and maintain sterile instrument trays and CV-specific equipment for CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, and AAA procedures
• Assist surgeons and the OR team during cardiovascular operations with focus, precision, and patient safety
• Anticipate procedural needs and pass instruments and devices efficiently to keep cases moving
• Ensure strict sterile technique and perioperative care standards to minimize infection risk
• Document case details and equipment usage in the EMR (Meditech)
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, float between campuses as needed, and support unit staffing goals
• Participate in equipment checks and troubleshooting for Stryker and GE devices used in the CV OR

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Minimum 3 years' experience in cardiovascular (CV) surgery – candidates without this will not be considered
• Strong knowledge of CV procedures including CABG, valve replacement, TAVR, and AAA
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR and Stryker/GE OR equipment
• BLS (or higher) certification as required by facility
• Flexible, confident, and a true team player who can float across HCA HealthONE campuses

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile technique and perioperative care best practices
• Cardiovascular surgical procedures and instrumentation
• Proficiency with Stryker and GE equipment in the OR
• Documentation and charting in Meditech EMR
• Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness
• Ability to work in fast-paced OR teams and maintain patient-first focus
