Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients' respiratory status and needs with attention and skill
• Provide respiratory treatments and therapies, including aerosolized medications and airway management
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain respiratory equipment like ventilators and oxygen delivery systems
• Document patient care, response to therapy and changes in condition accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and the care team to develop and implement patient-centered plans
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care, home equipment and follow-up needs
• Participate in orientation and training, helping to create a strong, safety-focused environment

Qualifications

• Active Missouri Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentials preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) encouraged where applicable
• Clinical experience with respiratory care in a hospital or acute-care setting a plus
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation strategies
• Skilled in airway management and aerosol/oxygen therapy
• Comfortable with arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory assessment
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe equipment handling
• Able to use electronic medical records to document and communicate care
