Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care to patients across the acute care setting
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized respiratory treatment plans
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support devices safely and effectively
• Perform arterial blood gas analysis and interpret results to guide therapy
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans and equipment use
• Respond to emergency and rapid-response situations with calm, competent intervention
• Document assessments, treatments, and progress accurately in the medical record

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT or CRT) required; RRT preferred
• State licensure in Georgia or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
• Experience in acute care, ICU, or step-down units preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and patient assessment skills
• Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively on a fast-paced team

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (or equivalent) required; BS in Respiratory Therapy or related field a plus
• Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and advanced airway support
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• Familiarity with respiratory therapy equipment and preventative maintenance
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
• Patient education and family communication
• Infection control practices and patient safety principles
