Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients with compassion and precision
• Perform focused assessments and monitor vital signs prior to procedures
• Prepare patients and families by explaining pre-op instructions and easing anxiety
• Collaborate with the surgical team and interdisciplinary staff to ensure smooth patient flow
• Accurately document patient information and communicate changes in condition
• Support safe handoff to intraoperative staff and participate in orientation activities

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or ability to obtain
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Experience or strong interest in pediatric nursing and pre-operative care
• Comfortable with pediatric assessment, IV starts, medication administration, and perioperative protocols
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Current immunizations and ability to pass required background checks

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric growth and development and age-appropriate communication
• Skill in conducting pre-op assessments, obtaining vitals, and preparing patients for procedures
• Familiarity with surgical workflows and pre-operative checklists
• Proficient documentation skills and experience with electronic health records
• Ability to educate families and provide emotional support during pre-op
• Team-oriented mindset with strong prioritization and time management skills
