Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver attentive, patient-centered post-anesthesia care in the PACU
Monitor patients’ vital signs and recovery status, identifying changes quickly
Administer medications and treatments as ordered and document accurately
Collaborate closely with anesthesia, surgical teams, and nursing colleagues to ensure smooth handoffs
Provide clear education and discharge instructions to patients and families
Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and adhere to facility policies

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) credential — RN is required for this role
Experience or specialization in PACU/post-anesthesia care
State licensure (Louisiana RN licensure or applicable compact privilege) — verify requirements with recruiter
Current BLS (and ACLS/PN) certifications as applicable or preferred by facility
Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills

Education

Nursing diploma, ADN or BSN (BSN preferred where applicable)

Knowledge & Skills

Post-anesthesia recovery assessment and monitoring
Pain management and medication administration in the PACU setting
Airway management fundamentals and emergency response readiness
Clear, concise documentation and handoff communication
Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration in perioperative care
Patient and family education during recovery
