Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgery
Prepare and maintain the sterile field, instruments and supplies for procedures
Assist the surgical team during intraoperative care with vigilance and teamwork
Perform preoperative assessments and ensure accurate handoffs and documentation
Advocate for patient safety, infection control and adherence to facility protocols
Educate patients and families on perioperative expectations and post-op care
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for practice in Louisiana
Perioperative nursing experience or strong interest in OR practice
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, advanced certifications encouraged
CNOR certification preferred but not required
Ability to work collaboratively with surgical teams and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

Solid knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and aseptic technique
Familiarity with operating room instrumentation and sterile processing
Strong patient assessment, monitoring and documentation skills
Effective communication and teamwork in high-stakes settings
Comfort using electronic medical records and perioperative documentation systems
