Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, skilled perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique and surgical field integrity throughout cases
• Prepare and manage surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Perform thorough pre-operative and post-operative patient assessments and documentation
• Advocate for patient safety, infection control, and best practices in the operating room
• Participate in competency validation (Prime Core Competencies, Specialty and Skills exams) and continuous learning

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse licensure with verification (Nursys verification required)
• Experience as an OR RN or strong perioperative nursing background preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications (current)
• Successful completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam as required
• Ability to pass required health screenings and occupational health requirements (fit test, TB, MMR, Hep B, influenza vaccine, varicella, Tdap, drug screen, physical)
• Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and commitment to patient-centered care

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and OR workflows
• Proficiency in pre-op and post-op assessment and documentation
• Familiarity with circulating and scrub roles in various surgical specialties
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and manage OR supplies efficiently
• Attention to detail, critical thinking, and adaptability in fast-paced surgical environments
