Roles & Responsibilities

• Support the RN and surgical team by assisting with limited direct patient care
• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures with precision
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon to ensure seamless procedures
• Set up and maintain a sterile field throughout the surgery
• Clean, prepare, and package instruments for disinfection and sterilization
• Assist with room turnover between cases, preparing for the next patient
• Uphold patient safety standards and maintain clinical competencies
• Adhere to AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies
• Manage time effectively and use resources responsibly
• Collaborate as a supportive team member and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Current BLS/BCLS certification required (American Heart Association)
• Surgical technologist certification preferred but not required
• Strong understanding of sterile technique and surgical procedures
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and maintaining a sterile field
• Proficient in handling and passing surgical instruments
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Knowledge of AORN Recommended Practices
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
