Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 12-hour day shifts; weekend requirement: 3 shifts per 4-week period, self-scheduling

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological conditions, including epilepsy, brain tumors, and traumatic brain injuries
Monitor and interpret telemetry and EEGs to detect changes in patient condition
Perform advanced nursing skills such as central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertion with strict sterile technique
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Utilize critical thinking and assessment skills to identify subtle changes in neurological status
Educate patients and families on condition management and treatment plans

Qualifications

Must have at least 2 years of experience in acute care, preferably neuro or med-surg/tele
ACLS and BLS (AHA) required
Level 1 Trauma experience required
BSN preferred; Med Surg/Tele certification preferred
Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance
Willingness to complete SIMs lab for Foley and central line dressing changes

Knowledge & Skills

Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpretation
Knowledge of sterile field technique
Ability to assess cranial nerves
Experience with Cerner charting system
Comfortable with managing patients on BiPAP
