Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the Med/Surg unit
- Assess patients frequently, develop and implement individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments safely and monitor patient responses
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and the care team to coordinate care
- Document patient status and interventions clearly and timely in the medical record
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Communicate effectively with patients and families to educate and support recovery
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (Alabama) or applicable compact licensure
- Experience or comfort working in a Med/Surg setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or other advanced certifications preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and patient advocacy skills
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and function well in a fast-paced team environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in Med/Surg assessments and interventions
- Medication administration and IV therapy skills
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Time management, triage, and critical thinking in acute care settings
