Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care for adults and geriatric patients on a MedSurg Oncology unit
• Monitor continuous cardiac telemetry and quickly interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central lines and PICC lines, and administer blood products safely
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and support respiratory therapies including HFNC and BiPAP/CPAP
• Administer and monitor symptom-management and chemotherapy-related care following protocols (chemotherapy administration preferred)
• Follow infection prevention and patient falls prevention protocols to keep patients safe
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure clear communication across the care team
• Float to equivalent med-surg oncology units as needed and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (active)
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required (must meet experience within the 3 most recent years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass)
• BLS (BCLS) certification required
• Epic charting experience required
• Comfort with a 1:4 patient ratio
• IV therapy/phlebotomy, central/PICC line care and blood product administration experience preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Willingness to float to other MedSurg Oncology units and a growth mindset toward learning

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and continuous cardiac monitoring
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Arterial line and central line management
• IV starts and PICC line care
• ABG interpretation and HFNC management
• Familiarity with Alaris pumps, bladder scanner and GE telemetry monitors
• Chest tube assistance and tracheostomy care
• Titration of insulin drips, PCA management, and emergency response
