Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the Ambulatory and General OR rooms for a wide variety of surgical cases, ensuring instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready
• Execute Universal Protocol (time out) and strict infection-control practices to protect patients and staff
• Assist the surgical team across specialties — orthopedics, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, podiatry and general surgery — with calm, confident clinical support
• Handle specimen labeling and transport accurately to support correct diagnoses and patient care
• Document care clearly and efficiently in the charting system (Epic preferred) to ensure continuity of care
• Perform wound management and urinary catheterization as needed, advocating for patient comfort and safety
• Float to Main OR when requested (Main OR is located across the street) and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary support
• Contribute to a positive patient experience by communicating clearly with patients, families and the surgical team

Qualifications

• Valid California state license (required) — pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of OR experience (Ambulatory/General experience preferred)
• BLS certification required; additional certifications are a plus
• Familiarity with Epic and other charting systems is preferred
• Able to comply with RTO restrictions (no more than 7 days)
• Willingness to float to the Main OR across the street when needed
• No travel experience required — first-time travelers welcome

Knowledge & Skills

• Ambulatory OR and General OR workflows
• Specialty experience: Orthopedics, Podiatry, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, General Surgery
• Infection control practices and Universal Protocol (time out)
• Specimen handling and labeling accuracy
• Wound management and urinary bladder catheterization
• Experience with electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
• Familiarity with Epic and charting systems
• Laser Safety and Radiation Safety fundamentals
