Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care to adults across multiple ICU settings including Neuro, CVICU, SICU and MICU
• Manage ventilators and perform advanced respiratory care including HFNC and BiPAP/CPAP
• Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data including arterial lines and Swan-Ganz monitoring
• Respond to emergencies and lead bedside interventions for dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Perform invasive line care including central lines, PICCs and blood product administration
• Start and maintain IVs and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips safely and effectively
• Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, PT, pharmacy and rapid response
• Assist with procedures and post-procedure care such as chest tube management and sheath removal
• Support patient and family education during critical and transitional periods

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (required)
• BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications (required)
• Proficiency with EPIC (required)
• Hands-on experience with IV starts, telemetry and ventilator management (required)
• Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Willingness and flexibility to float to units of equal or lower acuity across the health system

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing fundamentals and ICU patient management
• Ventilator management and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias and EKG/12-lead acquisition
• Arterial line and central line management
• Blood product administration and emergency medication management
• Care of post-cardiac surgery patients and familiarity with CABG/post-op needs
• Neuro ICU skills including NIHSS, EVD and ICP monitoring
• Respiratory therapies: HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP and suctioning techniques
• Phlebotomy and infection prevention / isolation precautions
• Ability to float across multiple specialty ICUs and adapt quickly to new teams
