Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a busy medical-surgical unit
• Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized nursing plans
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Document patient care and clinical observations clearly and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
• Contribute to unit quality improvement initiatives and safe practice standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana (or eligibility to obtain one)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or available
• Previous medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Immunizations and background checks as required by facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Patient assessment, wound care, and post-op care experience
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
• Proficient documentation and charting practices
• Team collaboration and effective handoff communication
