Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care to a diverse patient population including trauma, cardiac, stroke, and sepsis cases
• Titrate and manage cardiac drips, insulin, sedation, and other titratable medications
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, collaborating with telemetry technicians
• Manage ventilators from nasal cannula to full ventilator support
• Float to PCU or MedSurg when needed, maintaining appropriate patient ratios
• Participate in pass/fail open book exam during orientation to ensure clinical competency
• Adhere to facility policies including no artificial nails in patient care areas

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska or a compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required at time of submittal
• Valid driver's license to verify radius rule compliance
• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience preferred
• Ability to pass an open book skills exam with 90% during orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in critical care, telemetry monitoring, and ventilator management
• Proficient in titrating cardiac drips, insulin, sedation, and other titratable medications
• Strong assessment and rapid decision-making skills in high-acuity settings
• Comfortable working with trauma, post-stent, pacemaker, and renal failure patients
• Excellent teamwork and communication for floating to step-down units
