Physical Therapist - Acute Inpatient

Location: Bakersfield, California

Start Date: 06-17-2026

End Date: 09-16-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Mostly 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM one day a week; weekends: one weekend every third weekend (Monday and Friday off that week)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $59 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Evaluate and treat a diverse caseload of acute inpatient patients including post-surgical (TKA, THA, spinal), general medical deconditioned, and neurological conditions (CVA)
Cover multiple areas including Medical/Surgical, ICU, and ER as needed
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Document patient progress accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
Supervise rehabilitation aides and contribute to department orientation for new staff

Qualifications

Current California Physical Therapy license required
BLS certification from American Heart Association
At least one year of acute inpatient physical therapy experience preferred
Ability to treat a variety of diagnoses including ortho, neuro, and deconditioned patients
Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced hospital setting

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in acute care physical therapy interventions and modalities
Proficiency in functional mobility assessments and therapeutic exercise prescription
Knowledge of discharge planning and patient education for post-acute care
Ability to manage a caseload of 12+ patients per day
