Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Day)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $29 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and support within the correctional training facility environment
  • Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with exams, and basic wound care
  • Document patient encounters and observations accurately in the charting system
  • Communicate clearly with custody staff and the clinical team to ensure safe patient movement and care
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
  • Participate in required orientation and ongoing training to maintain competency

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (MA) required; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) accepted if MA not available
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain during orientation
  • Valid California certification/license as applicable
  • Comfortable working in a correctional facility setting and following facility-specific protocols
  • Ability to complete required facility orientation and clearance processes

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred or CNA training accepted

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong patient care skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with taking and recording vital signs
  • Clear, professional communication with patients, clinical staff, and custody personnel
  • Basic clinical documentation and charting skills
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
