Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and rehabilitation for athletic injuries at a contracted high school
• Cover athletic events and after-school activities and provide on-site emergency care when needed
• Assess and manage concussions, supervise symptom monitoring and return-to-play progression
• Perform functional progress assessments, post-offer employment tests (POETs), and job-specific conditioning programs
• Work as a physician extender in the orthopedic clinic: take histories, assist with scheduling surgeries, and educate patients
• Document treatments and evaluations accurately, and communicate plans clearly with athletes, parents, coaches, and the care team
• Analyze root causes of injuries and implement prevention strategies to reduce future incidents

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology (required)
• 1+ years of related work experience
• Current Athletic Trainer license for the state of Wisconsin (required)
• Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Valid driver's license
• Strong attention to detail and intermediate to expert computer proficiency

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology

Knowledge & Skills

• Injury prevention and rehabilitation
• Concussion management and evaluation
• Emergency care and on-site event coverage
• Musculoskeletal examination skills
• Functional assessments and return-to-play progression
• Occupational health services (POETs, desk assessments, FPNs)
• Patient documentation and clear communication with athletes, families, and coaches
