Shift Type: Rotating shifts including weekends: typical 12-hour rotations with variable starts (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM). Night call expectation one weeknight per week (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) and weekend coverage (Saturday-Sunday) on one of the three shift times. Shift type: rotating (day/night).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure surgical instruments and supplies are ready for each case
• Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, anticipating needs, and maintaining focus under pressure
• Perform accurate instrument counts and document perioperative information in the Cerner charting system
• Collaborate with the OR team to support trauma, orthopedic, vascular, and general surgery cases with professionalism
• Participate in unit call rotation and respond promptly and reliably when on call
• Contribute to patient safety by following infection control protocols and advocating for best practices

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of OR surgical tech experience, preferably with trauma, orthopedics, vascular, and general surgery
• Comfortable with call responsibilities, weekend coverage, and rotating 12-hour shifts
• Familiarity with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
• Ability to submit required licensure and complete a brief orientation (approximately 12 hours)

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative protocols
• Proficient in instrument identification, room setup, and surgical instrumentation for multiple specialties
• Experience working effectively in high-acuity trauma and emergency OR settings
• Skilled at accurate instrument counts and documentation
• Clear communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced surgical environments
• Basic computer literacy for charting in Cerner
