Roles & Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment with precision
• Prepare and pack sterile trays and sets following protocols and case specifications
• Receive and process vendor trays, ensuring completeness and proper labeling
• Pick, assemble and manage case carts for OR cases across specialties
• Maintain sterile stores inventory and organized storage for rapid access
• Support the OR and other units (ICU, ER, outpatient clinics) with timely instrument processing
• Demonstrate competencies through department-specific orientation and ongoing training
• Respond to call assignments within the required 30-minute window

Qualifications

• CRCST or CSPDT required (Certified Registered Central Service Technician or Certified Sterile Processing Tech)
• BLS (AHA) required
• Minimum one year of SPD experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and adaptability in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Willingness to float within SPD (Decontam, Prep & Pack, Sterile Stores/case carts)
• Able to wear full surgical attire and follow strict infection control procedures
• Must be within the 60-mile radius and submit a valid driver's license; be in-state for orientation week

Knowledge & Skills

• Instrument decontamination, sterilization, and prep & pack best practices
• Case cart management and vendor tray processing
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Experience processing instruments for Ortho (total joints, trauma, arthroscopy), Spine, DaVinci XI, ENT, Urology and general cases
• Strong infection control knowledge and sterile technique
• Ability to follow policies, document work accurately, and communicate with OR staff
