Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care treatments and interventions to patients
• Operate and monitor ventilators and respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Assess patient respiratory status, interpret findings, and adjust care accordingly
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately and timely
• Participate in orientation activities and support unit-level onboarding for new staff
• Promote patient safety, comfort, and education through compassionate care

Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist credential/license (appropriate state licensure required)
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Clinical experience in respiratory care or acute care settings preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to collaborate with care teams
• Ability to complete required orientation and credentialing processes

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent (or completion of an accredited respiratory program)

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) assessment and interpretation
• Airway management and suctioning techniques
• Familiarity with respiratory equipment maintenance and safety protocols
• Patient and family education around respiratory conditions and treatments
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and documentation skills
