Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and interventions to patients with pulmonary needs
• Assess respiratory status, monitor progress, and adjust care as clinically indicated
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory support equipment safely
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and training to maintain unit standards and protocols
• Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies and equipment use

Qualifications

• Current Washington state respiratory care practitioner license or eligibility
• Credentials such as RRT or CRT preferred
• Basic Life Support BLS required, advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) preferred where applicable
• Clinical experience in acute care or hospital settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on a care team
• Ability to follow policies, maintain documentation, and prioritize patient safety

Education

• Associate degree or diploma in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and airway management
• Knowledge of pulmonary assessment, ABG interpretation, and respiratory diagnostics
• Skilled in patient monitoring, suctioning, and respiratory medication administration
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing patient needs
