Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high quality respiratory care and patient education with compassion and professionalism
• Assess patients and implement respiratory therapy plans based on physician orders
• Operate, monitor and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory equipment
• Perform diagnostic testing such as arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation
• Document patient care accurately and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Participate in orientation and training activities to stay current with best practices

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Washington or ability to obtain prior to start
• National credential such as CRT or RRT required or strongly preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS preferred if available
• Clinical experience in respiratory care settings; ability to manage ventilators and airway therapies
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program
• Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and mechanical ventilation modes
• Airway management and oxygen therapy
• Arterial blood gas collection and interpretation
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, physicians and allied health staff
• Critical thinking, adaptability and calm under pressure
