Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and breathing treatments to pediatric and/or adult patients as appropriate for the facility
• Assess patients’ respiratory status and respond to changes with timely interventions
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory support equipment
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care, equipment use, and home-care techniques
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of treatments, assessments, and patient responses
• Participate in orientation and training activities to ensure familiarity with facility protocols

Qualifications

• Current state Respiratory Therapist license (WA) or eligibility to obtain licensure
• CRT or RRT credential preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS or PALS a plus depending on patient population
• Comfortable operating ventilators and standard respiratory care equipment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to complete a required 4-hour orientation at the facility

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent from an accredited program (Bachelor’s preferred by some employers)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques and modalities
• Skilled in mechanical ventilation management and patient assessment
• Able to interpret blood gases and adjust therapy accordingly
• Familiarity with infection control practices and patient safety protocols
• Good documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) skills
• Problem-solving mindset and calm under pressure
