Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ respiratory status and implement appropriate interventions with confidence
• Manage ventilators and respiratory support devices, ensuring safe and effective therapy
• Perform airway management and assist in respiratory procedures as needed
• Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and collaborate in acute situations
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care
• Provide compassionate education to patients and families about treatments and home care
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness
• Document care thoroughly and accurately in the medical record to support continuity

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT or CRT) or completion of an accredited RT program
• Eligibility for or current Washington state Respiratory Therapist license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications a plus
• Comfort working in fast-paced clinical settings and during orientation shifts
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Ability to pass required background and health screenings

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory care program

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical knowledge of ventilator management and respiratory modalities
• Ability to interpret ABGs and adjust therapy appropriately
• Skilled in airway management and oxygen delivery systems
• Proficient with documentation and electronic medical records
• Strong patient education and interpersonal skills
• Calm under pressure and effective in emergency response
