Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert ventilator management and mechanical ventilation care for critically ill patients
• Provide skilled noninvasive ventilation support and titrate inhaled therapies including nitric oxide and heliox
• Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling accurately and efficiently
• Manage respiratory care across ICU, NICU, ER and floor therapy settings as patient needs require
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute patient-centered respiratory plans
• Respond to emergent respiratory events with calm, evidence-based interventions
• Document care thoroughly while maintaining high productivity and quality standards

Qualifications

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) acceptable; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) encouraged
• Current, unrestricted state respiratory therapy license (ability to obtain Missouri credentials if needed)
• Mechanical ventilation and critical care experience is required
• NRP required if providing NICU care; NICU experience preferred but not mandatory
• Proven competency with arterial puncture and inhaled medication administration
• Comfortable with adult and neonatal populations — neonates, infants, adults and geriatrics

Education

• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program (associate degree or equivalent)
• CRT or RRT credential from NBRC

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of ventilator management and critical care respiratory protocols
• Experience with noninvasive ventilation strategies and weaning protocols
• Familiarity with inhaled nitric oxide, heliox and surfactant administration
• Comfort using equipment like Drager v500/vn500, Evita XL, Carina, Philips V60/V30
• Ability to work effectively in ICU, ER, NICU and floor therapy environments
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
