Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and treatments to patients across acuity levels
• Assess respiratory status and develop, implement, and modify treatment plans
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including ventilators and airway devices
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and promptly
• Participate in patient and family education to support discharge readiness and continuity of care
• Support unit needs during orientation and act as a resource for less-experienced staff

Qualifications

• Current Washington state Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure (or ability to obtain)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS strongly preferred or willing to obtain
• Clinical experience in acute care settings preferred; new grads with strong clinical training encouraged to apply
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
• Ability to complete required orientation and competency validation

Education

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field preferred
• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in ventilator management and non-invasive ventilation strategies
• Skilled in airway management, suctioning, and oxygen therapy
• Knowledge of respiratory assessment techniques and ABG interpretation
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation best practices
• Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment and provide calm, patient-centered care
