Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilator care and ventilator adjustments for critically ill pediatric patients
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and respond to changes in patient status
• Provide tracheostomy care and ongoing airway management
• Execute IV starts and central line dressing changes with sterile technique
• Monitor and manage ICP monitoring devices and interpret trends
• Administer and manage tube feedings and enteral access
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and communicate effectively with the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other staff to develop and implement care plans
• Float to Pediatrics and NICU as needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
• Adhere to unit policies and staffing ratios to ensure patient safety and excellent outcomes

Qualifications

• PALS certification required
• Minimum PICU patient experience as listed by the unit (patient experience requirement noted in the posting)
• Comfort and experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic support, and ICP monitoring
• Skill performing IV starts, central line dressing changes, and tracheostomy care
• Experience documenting in Cerner and familiarity with Alaris infusion pumps
• Ability to float to Pediatrics and NICU when requested

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric critical care knowledge including PICU patient assessment
• Ventilator management and respiratory support principles
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of invasive lines
• Tracheostomy and airway care
• ICP monitoring and neurocritical care awareness
• Competency with Cerner electronic documentation
• Experience with Alaris pumps and bedside infusion management
• Ability to work 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratios confidently
