Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess residents’ functional abilities and occupational needs to develop meaningful goals
• Design and implement individualized treatment plans that promote independence
• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills
• Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate residents and families on adaptive strategies, assistive devices, and safety
• Document interventions, progress, and discharge plans in a timely, professional manner
• Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives at the facility

Qualifications

• Valid Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility) — Montana licensure preferred
• Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program
• BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings preferred
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and adapt to facility needs

Education

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or entry-level OTD) from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL/IADL assessments and interventions
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment, splinting basics, and mobility aids
• Familiarity with geriatric conditions, cognitive impairment, and fall prevention
• Excellent interpersonal skills for resident and family education
• Comfortable with facility documentation systems and regulatory requirements
