Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered postpartum nursing care to mothers and newborns
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor clinical status following ANA standards
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with families and the care team
• Deliver clinical interventions and evaluate outcomes, adjusting care as needed
• Document care accurately and timely in EPIC to ensure continuity and safety
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions
• Maintain required certifications and participate in competency evaluations and specialty exams

Qualifications

• Active Rhode Island RN license required
• Previous Postpartum nursing experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Compliance with facility personal health requirements, including COVID-19 vaccination and other immunizations
• English proficiency required for safe patient communication
• Willingness to complete CNE skills checklist and specialty competency exams

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical evaluation with a postpartum focus
• Care planning and patient-centered nursing aligned with ANA standards
• Clinical intervention skills for mother and newborn care
• Experience using EPIC for documentation and care coordination
• Basic EKG interpretation and pharmacology knowledge relevant to postpartum care
• Strong communication and family education skills
