Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using the nursing process and develop individualized care plans
• Provide direct patient care within scope of practice, focusing on telemetry and cardiac monitoring
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition
• Communicate patient status, diagnostic results, and clinical changes to physicians and the care team
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and document patient progress clearly
• Teach patients and families about conditions, treatments and self-care in a compassionate way
• Direct and guide other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care on the Telemetry Unit
• Complete required competency testing and specialty checklists to maintain clinical readiness

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS and ACLS required
• NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications required
• Telemetry nursing experience and cardiac monitoring / rhythm interpretation skills
• Ventilator management experience preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination/boosters preferred and other immunizations as listed
• Ability to complete Prime Core Competencies, Prime Skills and specialty exams
• Must be able to pass background checks, drug screen, fit test and required health screenings

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Telemetry unit workflows and escalation protocols
• Telemetry equipment and cardiac monitoring systems
• Infection control practices and medication administration
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and physicians
• Patient/family education techniques and documentation best practices
• Basic ventilator familiarity (preferred) and emergency response skills
