Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered nursing care in the Emergency Department following ANA Standards
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop care plans, and implement nursing interventions
• Evaluate patient responses and adjust care plans to achieve best outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate timely diagnosis and treatment
• Safely assist with patient lifting, transfers, and transport via wheelchair or stretcher
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity and compliance
• Maintain required certifications and participate in competency testing and skills checklists

Qualifications

• Active Rhode Island Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Emergency Medicine experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record
• Current BLS, PALS, ACLS and NIH Stroke Certification required
• Ability to perform patient lifting, transfers, and safe transport
• English proficiency for clear communication with patients and team
• Compliance with required vaccinations and health screenings (COVID-19, influenza, MMR, TB screening, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, fit test)
• Successful completion of CNE skills checklist and specialty competency exams

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and triage in high-acuity settings
• Care planning and evaluation consistent with ANA Standards
• Emergency Department nursing workflows and priorities
• EPIC documentation and clinical navigation
• Nursing interventions for acute and emergent conditions
• Basic, advanced life support and pediatric advanced life support practices
• Stroke recognition and NIH Stroke Scale application
• Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
