Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, focused post-anesthesia care to patients in the PACU
Monitor vital signs and recovery progress, intervening promptly for changes
Coordinate care and communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the care team
Administer medications and manage pain control per protocols
Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
Document patient status and interventions accurately in the chart

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to work in Louisiana)
Experience or demonstrated competence in PACU or post-anesthesia care
BLS certification required; ACLS and other perioperative certifications preferred
Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical recovery environment

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Postoperative assessment and monitoring
Airway management and basic life support
IV therapy and medication administration
Pain management strategies and protocols
Clear, concise documentation and handoff communication
Teamwork and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
