Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring stable vital signs and responsiveness
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and according to post-anesthesia protocols
• Manage airway, pain control and nausea while following recovery and discharge criteria
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the perioperative team to coordinate seamless care
• Provide patient and family education about post-op recovery, home care and follow-up instructions
• Document patient status, interventions and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Respond to changes in condition promptly and escalate concerns to the appropriate care team members

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Louisiana (or eligible to obtain prior to start)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS and/or PALS preferred or available
• Experience or strong interest in PACU/recovery nursing; clinical perioperative experience is a plus
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Must meet facility requirements for immunizations, background checks and credentialing

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of post-anesthesia care standards and recovery protocols
• Skilled in patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring and airway management
• Comfortable administering and titrating IV medications and pain management strategies
• Proficient with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient/family education abilities
