Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate hands-on care and support to patients in the mental health unit
Observe and document patient behavior, mental status, and progress clearly and accurately
Assist the interdisciplinary team with therapeutic interventions and group activities
Support safe and effective patient care by following care plans and facility protocols
Use de-escalation techniques and safe restraint procedures when necessary to maintain safety
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and clinical team members to promote continuity of care

Qualifications

Current Psychiatric Technician certification or equivalent per California requirements, or eligible to obtain
Active BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
Prior experience in mental health settings preferred but new grads with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply
Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills
Ability to work Tuesday through Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Education

High school diploma or GED required
Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Technician program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of mental health care principles and therapeutic communication
De-escalation and crisis intervention techniques
Basic patient care skills including vital signs and direct patient assistance
Accurate charting and familiarity with electronic medical records is a plus
Team-oriented mindset and ability to follow clinical protocols
