Roles & Responsibilities

• Oversee and implement infection prevention strategies across the community hospital
• Monitor and conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections and trends
• Collaborate with operating room and sterile processing teams to ensure best practices
• Develop, update, and enforce infection control policies and protocols
• Provide staff education, training, and competency assessments on infection prevention
• Lead outbreak investigations and coordinate response activities when needed
• Report findings and improvement plans to leadership and regulatory bodies
• Support perioperative and sterile processing audits, root cause analyses, and corrective actions

Qualifications

• Strong work history in Infection Control, specifically with operating room and sterile processing
• Clinical background (RN preferred) or equivalent infection prevention experience
• Experience in a community hospital setting preferred
• Preferred: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or similar credential
• Current state licensure as applicable and Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred
• Excellent communication, teaching, and collaborative skills

Education

• Degree in Nursing or related health field preferred (BSN preferred, associate with experience considered)

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep understanding of infection prevention principles and surveillance methods
• Knowledge of sterile processing standards and OR infection control practices
• Ability to develop policies, perform audits, and drive quality improvement
• Competence in staff education, competency validation, and performance feedback
• Familiarity with infection control reporting and regulatory requirements
• Data interpretation and reporting skills to support targeted interventions
