Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem / Varied schedule (days vary), 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and kindness
- Provide safe, hands-on support for mobility and transfers
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident status accurately
- Document care and communicate changes to nurses and care team promptly
- Support mealtime assistance and basic feeding as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Build trusting relationships with residents and engage them in meaningful ways
Qualifications
- GNA certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working night shifts and adapting to per diem scheduling
- Previous experience or demonstrated comfort working with geriatric populations preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with the care team
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-preserving practices
- Basic knowledge of ADLs, mobility assistance, and fall prevention
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Comfortable with basic charting and documentation
- Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Effective teamwork, time management, and prioritization
