Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate direct personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation)
• Take and record vital signs, measure output, and report changes in condition promptly
• Implement restorative care activities, including the use of assistive devices and range-of-motion exercises
• Follow oral and written care plans and participate actively as a member of the treatment team
• Observe, document and accurately report patient behaviors, symptoms and events
• Maintain infection control and universal precautions to protect patients and staff
• Support patient dignity and rights through respectful, patient-centered interactions

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification or equivalent
• At least 6 months of work experience in a long-term care (LTC) health facility (explicit requirement)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — must be obtained within six months of employment
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English and follow oral/written instructions
• Physical ability to perform essential duties of the position and provide direct patient care
• Previous work experience in Hawaii is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Personal hygiene and bodily care; assisting with activities of daily living
• Age-specific care and the ability to assess individual patient needs
• Vital signs, basic medical/nursing terminology and first aid
• Infection control and universal precautions
• Observation, documentation and accurate reporting skills
• Good oral and written communication, cultural awareness, patience and tact
• Emotional stability and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
